A point drain, sometimes called a floor drain, has a compact opening that may be square or round. Both come in different designs, so compare the complete product rather than the visible cover alone.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A channel may sit beside a wall or elsewhere in the shower. A point drain needs a floor layout that guides water to the opening. The possible position depends on the floor construction and route to the existing waste pipe. Depending on the position and system, a floor with a channel may slope in one or several directions. A point drain brings the floor together from different directions. These choices affect tile cuts and grout lines.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ask the tiler for a layout showing the drain, transitions and likely cuts. Large tiles may need to be divided differently across a compound slope; smaller tiles offer other possibilities. Have the required slope and practical arrangement assessed for the actual room.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"blog-section-3\">Check floor depth and pipe connections<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a renovation, the available depth below the finish can determine the options. Before ordering, check the existing pipe route, the required installation depth, the connection to the waste pipe, and whether the doorway and adjacent floor allow the planned height. A low-profile product is not automatically suitable for every property.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discuss the capacity of the chosen drain with the intended shower fitting and waste system. Its connection to the floor and wall must be compatible with the chosen waterproofing system and installed according to the relevant instructions.
